The Costume Designers Guild have finally added Sci-Fi to their Fantasy description to better distinguish where certain films should compete. Their contemporary category has picked up a few such films in the past, which makes it difficult to defend. As for what we’ve expected to be in contention this year, the notable omissions include The Personal History of David Copperfield, Ammonite, First Cow, and News of the World most specifically.
