Review: (#1) The non-existent background doesn’t embellish the core image, which is predictable and dull.

(#2) The duality employed is a nice touch with the light and the darkness playing for each side of Puss, but the images are simple and lacking in sufficient detail. (#3) It’s a rudimentary effort that only works in the language presented and even then it’s disappointingly simplistic.

(#4) Nothing new or revelatory here. Just a simple design with a few nice elements. (#5) A dull backdrop and unappealing artwork. (#6-#10) These character posters are unique enough to stand out, but not interesting enough to excel.

Trailer Rating: B- / B / B

Review: (#1) Some trademark humor for this character is included and the action sequence that opens things is exciting, but it cuts away from that to spend too much time revealing plot details that aren’t nearly as compelling, especially when revealing his 8 past deaths, which takes away some of the potential enjoyment of the film itself.

(#2) The plot is presented as it was in the prior, but more details are given and while there are a couple of minorly funny moments, there’s something missing from the trailer that would really sell it to audiences.

(#3) Finally digging into the plot without having to experience an excessive laundry list of segments explaining it helps to accentuate the burgeoning action of the film. That said, the choppy action sequences, although they have an anime feel, disappoint those who were expecting a film more akin to the previous ones.

Oscar Prospects:

It’s a contender for a Best Animated Feature nomination, but not a win.
