Rating: C Commentary: It shows off the star of the film, but doesn’t do much beyond that. It tries to evoke the style and feel of the film and only manages to partly succeed. |
Rating: B+ Commentary: The stars alone should make an envious audience take notice, but the film manages to display a traditional mob killer/revenge drama without seeming generic. |

Oscar Chances: Once again, Michael Shannon will be talked about as a possible Oscar nominee. Releasing in May will keep him fresher in voters’ minds, but the film HAS to be a hit with critics to be taken seriously as a contender and if it is, we could be looking at a stronger overall competitor for the Oscars. |
