Wesley Lovell: With its win at the American Cinema Editors, Everything Everywhere All at Once is the odds-on favorite to win this award. That said, its chief competition is the other film that won at ACE this weekend, Top Gun: Maverick. While action-heavy films have done well in this category in the past, Everything‘s abundant use of cutting will be more appealing to a lot of members of the Academy.
Peter J. Patrick: And the award goes to…the most editing. Everything everywhere all at Once with Top Gun: Maverick and Elvis in spoiler position.
Tripp Burton: No revised predictions or commentary provided.
Thomas La Tourrette: Everything Everywhere All at Once has dominated the precursors, winning at BAFTA and most importantly at the editors guild where it won for comedy/musical film editing. Its only real competition comes from Top Gun: Maverick, which picked up a win for drama editing, but an upset seems unlikely. I do not think that any of the other nominees stand a chance. So, Everything Everywhere All at Once wins easily.
