With three new wide releases, the question is whether Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker can hold on to the top spot for a fourth week or if Like a Boss, Underwater, The Informer (which looks to have been pulled from the release calendar yet again), or one of the expanding releases (1917 or Just Mercy) can swing into the top spot.

Among the new wide releases, I’d say Like a Boss will probably be the highest grossing, though it’s possible 1917. hops into the top spot in the end.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): There’s something interesting about this, but I can’t quite put my finger on it.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): A possibly strong crime drama but it doesn’t look much different than an episode of a weekly TV cop shows.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I have a feeling that this will quickly devolve into a smash-em-up revenge fantasy, which is just not that interesting to me.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): A lot of talented women, but the premise is a bit dreadful.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like a stupid movie about stupid people – will probably make a mint.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks like a broad, bad comedy that will have few redeeming features.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): There’s little about this trailer that is appealing.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Possibly interesting horror film set on the ocean’s floor.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The scene of someone being pulled away by their feet has been used in countless horror films, which makes me think this one will not be above average.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): An interesting concept, but a weak trailer.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Brainless nonsense about sexbots.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Actually it might be an interesting film about people and the sexbots they use, though I do not know if it will hold that interest totally.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Another interesting concept, but with a slightly better trailer.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): British crime drama looks somewhat interesting.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The tale of one brother being pulled into crime by another brother has been done before, and seemingly with less violence.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Haven’t we seen all of this before?
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Timely film about a family of opioid drug dealers in Appalachia could be worth seeking out.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The grittiness of the life of Appalachian drug dealers comes through, but I am not convinced if I want to spend two hours with them.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): This is not a film that we need and it looks awful to boot.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Garbage revision of history.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It purports to solve the murder 25 years later, but it looks poorly made and probably is not worth the time.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Not a film that sounds very interesting.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Psychological drama based on an actual 1959 case of paranoid schizophrenia looks compelling.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The film has a quartet of good actors, an intriguing premise, yet the trailer does not succeed in adequately getting the viewer involved.
