A weekend of two remakes and original film and the fourth film in a kids-only franchise.

Consensus

Below is a list of what we have come to a general consensus on. The number in parens represents the percentage of our contributors who agree with the statement.

Conan the Barbarian: It’s not a film that our contributors would want to watch, though others may feel differently.
Fright Night: Remake fatigue sets in and it’s hard to build up interest for something when you so fondly remember the original.
One Day: If you like romantic films, this could be for you even if it doesn’t look terribly original.
Spy Kids 4: Unless you’re a pre-teen, it’s unlikely you’ll want to watch this.
5 Days of War: It’s not often we consider watching a Renny Harlin project.
Amigo: It might be interesting, it might not. Our contributors can’t quite decide.

I have no desire to see this film, though fans of the source material might enjoy it.

Looks like a snooze fest to me.

It might be interesting, but it’s not at all reminiscent of the original, which would be my only reason for watching it.

It’s bad enough they have re-make garbage like Conan the Barbarian, but remaking a good movie like the original Fright Night for no reason other than to make a quick buck rubs me the wrong way. Rent the original!

The concept is inventive enough that watching it on DVD might be an option, but the film doesn’t seem like something I’d go out to the theater to watch.

Not a strict remake, but why didn’t they just call Same Time, Next Year and admit the rip-off? Both Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess are in need of a hit movie but this doesn’t look like the ticket.

It looks absolutely atrocious. You could pay me to watch it, but not to like it.

Must be the dog days of summer and this one looks like a real dog.

The idea has merit and so might the execution, but the trailer just doesn’t make this look like a must-see kind of film.

Renny Harlin hasn’t made a decent film in years but this modest look at the recent Georgian-Russian war could be his ticket back.

Perhaps if you were interested in the historical period in which this film is set, you might want to check it out, but I’m not.

The Phillipine-American War of 1900 under John Sayles’ scrutiny could be interesting.
