Review: (#1) A ravenous maw approaching a ravenous maw. Not a particularly inspired design. (#2) Strangely less interesting with a weak backdrop and an unappealing foreground.

(#3) Two halves of the same coin, a concept that will only be familiar to fans of the comic, thus isn’t very appealing otherwise. (#4) This battle design will appeal to some, but will turn off many others. (#5) We’ve seen this concept done before, so it feels a bit pat, but it’s the best design they’ve come up with so far. Though, Harrelson’s haircut is a travesty to itself. (#6) An interesting design compared to the other efforts, one that looks more like something that might grace an alternate cover of a comic book, not for a theatrical release. (#7-#10) This series of character posters has little variance and minimal appeal. (#11) Like the comic characters, the chaotic nature of the symbiotes is fitting, but not terribly appealing.

Trailer Rating: C / B-

Review: (#1) The attempts at humor in the trailer fall flat, the stakes are suitably set up, but don’t seem particularly compelling.

(#2) There’s a lot to process here and while it does a good job of avoiding giving away the final conflict, it sometimes difficult to see everything that’s going on and that can be difficult to assess.

Oscar Prospects:

With a heftier slate of visual effects films releasing, It’s unlikely this one will be able to cut through the field.
