Posters (Due to age, may no longer be available)

Poster Rating: C; D-

Review: This poster is relatively inexpressive. Putting only star Daniel Day-Lewis’ picture on the poster denies the poster from taking on a symbolic and intriguing conveyance of the film’s difficult and complex themes.

That’s quite a fancy font for such a dull poster. Of course, Apple’s movie trailer site continues to post titular placeholders when they have no official posters. So, here’s what they have.

Trailer Rating: B-

Review: Other than the fact that Daniel Day Lewis looks extremely good in this, the trailer is rather pedestrian. It seems like it’s stretching as much material as its willing to divulge across the entire length of the preview. Nothing exciting or interesting takes place. On top of it all, Paul Dano looks like he’s hamming it up like his costar did in Gangs of New York.

Oscar Prospects:

The film’s Upton Sinclair roots and top-notch cast virtually assure late season notices. However, if Oscars were handed out based on trailers, this film would be almost entirely shut out. I can see Picture, Actor (Day Lewis), Director, Screenplay, Editing, Cinematography, Art Direction and Score nods for the film.

Release Date:

December 26, 2007

Synopsis:

This is the kind of film they simply do not make anymore. Filled with intense, memorable performances, the production is every bit the socially, philosphically and emotionally relevant masterpiece that could have been made at any time in film history or film’s future.
