Review: This poster doesn’t do a bad job of conjuring up the dark recesses of the titular messengers as they show themselves to the terrified young tenants of a haunted house. However, that’s where the poster’s adroitness ends.

Trailer Rating: C

Review: Director Sam Raimi returns to his horror roots. Unfortunately, those roots aren’t terribly deep or vital. This film looks like every other horror film out there trying to capture an audience. The Ring and The Grudge are just parents to this film, which doesn’t necessarily make the combination a good idea.

Oscar Prospects:

Some of the effects in the preview are interesting, but the fact that it’s a horror film will instantly downgrade its chances that Oscar will take notice.
