Review: (#1-#3) It may not have invented it, but ever since A Beautiful Mind, films about mathematical geniuses seem hell bent on including complex formulae and equations as writing in the background or over other images. It’s crass and calculated without being interesting. Poster #1 uses other design motifs that are all too common, specifically the image of one character with another to symbolize their symbiotic relationship. Poster #2 is an unappealing close-up of little import. Poster #3 is too broad and Dev Patel’s physical positioning looks utterly bizarre.

Trailer Rating: B

Review: An interesting trailer for anyone who has a fascination with historical mathematical geniuses. While it may not have much to present to non-math fans, the cast is solid and there are just enough compelling moments to make it seem worth some effort to see.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
