Review: (#1) There’s some details here that subtly tell us who’s involved, but there’s simply not enough details to make it compelling. (#2) Adding Doctor Strange to this design seems ill-advised considering the series needed to stand on its own two feet rather than continuously relying on help from the MCU at large.

(#3) An interesting blend of images that doesn’t quite excel at generating interest. (#4) The chaotic arrangement of images adds almost nothing to the design and makes it all feel tired. (#5) Creating a spiral by cutting the image and shifting it a few degrees sideways is an interesting mechanic poorly executed. (#6-#8) This series of villain posters is utterly dull. (#9) There is little to nothing going on here. A lifeless background is not inviting. (#10) A little more interesting than some of the other designs, this one doesn’t buy in on the twisting multi-verse concept, which is fresh in and of itself. (#11-#13) More villain posters, this time without Spider-Man getting in the way, which seems kind of pointless. (#14) More background detail is always welcome and the disorienting nature of the image is creative, but not impressive.

Trailer Rating: C+ / B

Review: (#1) The humor presented is dull and witless, the premise is intriguing, but poorly communicated. The effects look amazing and that’s the best thing that can be said about the trailer.

(#2) The plot unfolds before us in a second trailer that blends in a bit of excitement and adventure with a little exposition, which certainly helps. Though, the humor is a bit lame.

Oscar Prospects:

This is the first Spider-Man film in some time that generates genuine excitement for its visual effects, so consider it a shortlister for sure.
