Review: (#1) Going for parallel lines might seem like a wise thing to do, but the end result is exceptionally dull and the colors are too stark. (#2) This might be controversial in some areas, but the issue isn’t its content, but it’s construction. A dull, color-deprived effort that wants to seem forward-thinking, but is ultimately just bland.

Trailer Rating: C+ / C

Review: (#1) A wordless trailer might hide the fact that the film is in Spanish, but the end result doesn’t add a measure of interest beyond its stars and director, which is a bad decision.

(#2) While the original trailer was wordless, this trailer is almost all talking and it goes by so fast sometimes that it’s hard to keep up. That said, the trailer doesn’t explain enough about the film’s themes to make it truly interesting.

Oscar Prospects:

Never count out Pedro Almodovar, but this wordless trailer doesn’t inspire confidence.
