Review: (#1) Barely a silhouette, but employing a black-and-white palette does not make for an appealing poster, especially with the not-as-thrilling-as-they-think helicopter stunt in the foreground. (#2) More of the helicopter stunt. I begin to wonder if it’s the only exciting element of the film, which would make things rather desperate. (#3) With some nice color thrown in, the design works much better than what has come before it, including images of most of the cast rather than just the star while keeping him as the central figure. It all works well. (#4) While not as bland as the black-and-white designs, the colors are muted and desaturated enough to be similar without being exciting.

(#5-#13) This series of character posters aren’t very interesting visually, but they are all distinct from one another with the exception of the titling and tagline, which aren’t that interesting. (#14 & #15) It’s always interesting how the IMAX poster designs are always incredibly bland, hardly exciting, and don’t seem to showcase the reason an IMAX screen is crucial for a film. This pair of posters suffer similarly.

Trailer Rating: C+

Review: The first trailer somehow never appeared for review, but this second trailer does a decent job setting the stakes and building up interest in the film even if it feels a bit staid and derivative.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
