Review: (#1) It’s dull and uninteresting, which doesn’t make the film look enticing in the least. It’s no style and minimal substance.

(#2) This is a nice throwback kind of design with lots of insets arrayed pleasingly, with nice colors and a black background that doesn’t feel overbearing.

Review: The release of a new Paul Thomas Anderson film is always cause for celebration, but this throwback of a film looks like a cross of Anderson’s own Boogie Nights and Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous without finding a satisfactory balance.

Oscar Prospects:

Paul Thomas Anderson is always a contender and with this film looking more like Boogie Nights than his other recent efforts, it could be a player.
