Review: (#1) It has a certain appeal, but it doesn’t really excite the way it should.

(#2) It does say something about the film, but not enough. If the viewer has seen the trailer than it makes a bit more sense than it does as a stand alone sales tool. (#3) While it doesn’t say anything about the premise, it’s a solid symbolic effort that unfortunately trades on commonplace color selection.

(#4) It’s a simple design, perhaps a bit too simple, but it has an intriguing aesthetic that doesn’t quite sell the film without foreknowledge of its premise.

Trailer Rating: C+ / B

Review: (#1) While the tension is well handled, the plot is still a bit amorphous. Of course, an M. Night Shyamalan film is going to avoid giving away too many details, but what is left behind just doesn’t feel as compelling as it should.

(#2) A full fledged trailer that identifies the plot, presents plenty of stakes, and offers up a nice series of conundrums that will ultimately drive the plot even though it doesn’t quite suggest how it will stave off the tedium of the premise’s lack of potential.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
