Review: (#1) For fans of Whitney Houston, this will likely sell it to them, but for everyone else, it’s a rather dull and banal effort.

(#2) It’s not far enough removed from the prior design to be interesting, though it conveys the same representative energy.

(#3) While it’s designed to remind the viewer of Whitney Houston, it somehow manages to look nothing like her, which is fascinating considering the trailer definitely makes her look similar enough.

Trailer Rating: B- / B

Review: (#1) If only for the music, the film should be a success and while it looks like an intriguing biopic, it takes on far too many of the genre’s expected affectations and that’s not nearly as inviting as the music is.

(#2) There are a few more moments of merit in this trailer than the last, giving the whole a much more successful veneer, which might bolster the film’s chances. That said, the tropes look overly familiar and the drama does as well, which makes the end result something less than spectacular.

Oscar Prospects:

They slapped that Bohemian Rhapsody reference on there to make it seem like an Oscar contender, but although I’ve heard decent reports on it, the film doesn’t seem like an Oscar-capable film.
