Review: (#1) A simple teaser that looks massive, which is what is likely intended. Not original by any stretch of the imagination, but visually pleasing. (#2) Another fine example of the Ancient Japanese style designs.

(#3) Trying to fit ten characters onto a single vertical poster design is a challenge and the designers rose to that challenge as best they could. There are perhaps too few details in the background, but overall it works visually.

(#4) An array of heroes is only part of the design and the artwork itself is pretty, but it’s a fairly undistinguished design. (#5-#14) A series of dull character posters that each look unique, but don’t look interesting. (#15) The black-and-white design style is utterly forgettable. (#16) While it’s a nice array of the actors and each with distinctive poses, the end result isn’t particularly compelling even if it is glossy. (#17) A better view of each character, but none of it is that intriguing, though the interesting balance of individual costume colors is distinguishing.

Trailer Rating: B- / B+

Review: (#1) The off-kilter bit of humor at the end feels entirely out of place and not particularly funny. It’s the kind of post-credits moment that works after you are familiar with the characters, but not beforehand. There’s also not quite enough visual energy or plot evocation to this trailer, making it difficult to be engaged by it.

(#2) Getting details of the film’s plot is a positive step forward, not ruining everything for the viewer is even better. The end result is something that has some measure of intrigue to it.

Oscar Prospects:

A Visual Effects or Sound nomination seems appropriate, but little else would make sense.
