Big Winners

Top Gun: Maverick had a nice bounce out of the gate with high profile nominations and wins setting it as the film no one thought would be a major Oscar contender, but which is turning into one.
Everything Everywhere All at Once continues to impress with its dominance of critics prizes making it one of the year’s top contenders.
The Banshees of Inisherin may not have won all the awards, but it’s doing quite well, which gives it a leg up in the competition.
Elvis isn’t doing quite as well as the aforementioned films, but it’s quietly racking up influence.
Tรกr has done quite well for such a small film.

Big Losers

She Said looked like it could be the year’s Spotlight, but is struggling to get any measure of traction.
The Fabelmans is doing well enough, but one has to feel its performance in the precursors so far has been anemic.
Emancipation was pulled into the 2022 Oscar race by Apple TV+, but it’s turned out to be a mediocre performer with critics.
Empire of Light originally seemed like a strong contender, but with unimpressive reviews, the film is fading fast.
Wendell & Wild seemed like one of the prime contenders for this year’s Animated Feature award, but has been virtually ignored so far.
