KNOXVILLE, Tenn. โ April 4, 2013 โ Regal Entertainment Group (NYSE: RGC), a leading motion picture exhibitor owning and operating the largest theatre circuit in the United States, announced a week-long engagement of Girl Rising starting Friday, April 19. Regal joining this effort means an opportunity for people everywhere to see this beautiful and important film.โ
A portion of all ticket sales at Regal Cinemas, United Artists and Edwards Theatres will go to the 10×10 Fund for Girls Education, which is distributed among 10×10โs high-impact network of non-profit partners: A New Day Cambodia, CARE, Girl Up/United Nations Foundation, Partners in Health, Plan International USA, Room to Read, and World Vision.
โWe have been overwhelmed by the incredible response to Girl Rising,โ said director, Richard E. Robbins. โAround the country, thousands of people have brought Girl Rising to their local theatres with on demand screenings. Now, Regal Cinemas is making this film โ and the stories of these nine incredible girls โ available to anyone who wants to see it. The more people who witness the impact of education on girlsโ lives, the closer we get to driving change and getting girls into school.โ

Spotlight – Craig Zicks’ THE ENGLISH TEACHER (Distributor: Cinedigm and Tribeca Films)
THE ENGLISH TEACHER, directed by Craig Zisk, follows Linda Sinclair (Julianne Moore), a forty-year-old unmarried high school English teacher in the small town of Kingston, Pennsylvania. She shares a small apartment with two Siamese cats and her rich collection of great literature. She maintains no close personal relationships aside from those she has with her favorite authors and stories. Her life is far less complicated than the dramas she devours on the page, and she likes it that way. But Linda’s simple life turns an unexpected page when former star pupil Jason Sherwood (Michael Angarano) returns to Kingston after trying to make it as a playwright in New York. Now in his 20s, Jason is on the verge of abandoning art, pressured by his overbearing father, Dr. Tom Sherwood (Greg Kinnear), to face reality and go to law school. Linda can’t stand the thought of Jason giving up on his dreams so she decides to mount his play – a dark, angst-ridden, ambitious work – as a Kingston High School production, with flamboyant drama teacher Carl Kapinas (Nathan Lane) directing. As Linda, now well out of her normal comfort zone, takes further risks in life and love, the stage is set for highly comic downfall. With the play, her reputation, and her teaching career on the line, Linda finds an unlikely ally in herself. Amidst the ruins of her formerly perfect life, can she find a way to her own unique storybook ending?

World Documentary Competition โ Matt Wolf’s TEENAGE (Acquisition Title)
Before the โTeenagerโ was invented, there was no second stage of life. You were either a child or you went to work as an adult. At the turn of the century, child labor was ending, ‘adolescence’ was emerging, and a struggle erupted between adults and youth. Would the young be controlled and regimented, or could they be free?
Inspired by punk author Jon Savage’s book and directed by Matt Wolf, TEENAGE gives voice to young people from the first half of the 20th century in America, England, and Germanyโfrom party-crazed Flappers and hip Swing Kids to zealous Nazi Youth and frenzied Sub-Debs. By the end of World War II, they were all ‘Teenagers’: a new idea of youth.
Four young voices narrated by Jena Malone (THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE), Ben Whishaw (SKYFALL), Julia Hummer (CARLOS), Jessie Usher (BEAUTIFUL BOY) bring to life rare archival material and filmed portraits of emblematic teenagers from history — Brenda Dean Paul, a self-destructive Bright Young Thing; Melita Maschmann, an idealistic Hitler Youth; Tommie Scheel, a rebellious German Swing Kid; and Warren Wall, a black Boy Scout. This living collage is punctuated by a contemporary score by Bradford Cox (Deerhunter, Atlas Sound).
TEENAGE is a story that ends with a beginning: a prelude to todayโs youth culture. In each generation, adults often mistake youthful unrest for an emotional right of passage. But history proves that rebelling teenagers arenโt just claiming their independence, they’re shaping the future.

With the family under the microscope Vanetia treats Ted with resistance, but as she observes his calming influence she begins to value his friendship. Ted’s continued presence in the house sets the family on course for an emotional collision.

Spotlight: David Gordon Green’s PRINCE AVALANCHE (Magnolia Pictures)
In PRINCE AVALANCHE, American filmmaker David Gordon Green exhibits his mastery for infusing poignant character study with comedic insight through subtle shifts in tone, incisive dialogue, and a profound appreciation for place. Set to the haunting backdrop of a barren expanse of burnt-out Texas wildernessโwhose melancholic beauty is accentuated with the music of the rock band Explosions in the Sky and collaborator David Wingoโs stunning score as well as Tim Orr’s sweeping cinematographyโPRINCE AVALANCHE bucks convention by exploring male bonding in a refreshingly genuine–and often absurdist–way.
An odd couple of sorts, Alvin (Paul Rudd), meditative and stern, and his girlfriendโs brother Lance (Emile Hirsch), dopey and insecure, leave the city behind to spend the summer in solitude repainting traffic lines down the center of a country highway ravaged by wildfire. As the two begin their gradual journey across the landscape, swapping stories and butting heads, what unfolds is an unexpectedly humorous yet moving examination of an unlikely friendship that reveals distinct approaches to finding one’s way in life. Adapted from EITHER WAY, an Icelandic film, PRINCE AVALANCHE is driven by strong performances by the two male leads.
Magnolia Pictures will release PRINCE AVALANCHE in theaters the summer of 2013.
