Santa Monica, CA March 25, 2013 โ€“ Summit Entertainment, a LIONSGATEยฎ (NYSE: LGF) company, announced today that Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Ben Lamb and Christian Madsen have been cast in the highly anticipated feature film production DIVERGENT, starring Golden Globe nominated Shailene Woodley and Theo James. They will join other confirmed cast members Kate Winslet, Jai Courtney, Zoรซ Kravitz, Ansel Elgort and Maggie Q. The futuristic action adventure, based on author Veronica Rothโ€™s New York Times best seller, will be directed by Neil Burger from a script by Vanessa Taylor and commences principal photography this April in Chicago. The original draft of the script was written by Evan Daugherty. Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher are producing the project via their Red Wagon Entertainment banner along with Pouya Shahbazian. Red Wagonโ€™s Rachel Shane is executive producing. Summit will release the film theatrically in North America in THE HUNGER GAMES slot on Friday, March 21, 2014.

Lloyd-Hughes will play Will, Lamb will play Edward and Madsen will play Al in the film.

The extremely popular young adult novel Divergent was written by first time author Veronica Roth and has topped the New York Times Best Sellers list ever since being published in May of 2011 by Katherine Tegen Books/HarperCollins Publishers. She followed her first novel with the book Insurgent, which has also made its way to the #1 position on specific New York Times Best Sellers lists. To date, book sales are now over 2.6 million copies for both novels combined, and both titles are HarperCollins most successful e-books ever in regards to sales. The studio acquired the film rights to the novel in early 2011 several months before the book Divergent was published.

DIVERGENT marks another strategic foray for Summit into producing material for young adults, building on Summit and corporate parent Lionsgateโ€™s leadership in the young-adult genre. Summitโ€™s TWILIGHT SAGA franchise has grossed more than $3.3 billion at the worldwide box office, and the first film of Lionsgateโ€™s THE HUNGER GAMES franchise is the 13th highest-grossing North American release of all time.

Lloyd-Hughesโ€™ recent credits include GREAT EXPECTATIONS and THE SCAPEGOAT.

Lamb currently plays Anthony Rivers in The White Queen, which will premiere on BBC One and Starz later this year.

Madsen just wrapped Gia Coppolaโ€™s film PALO ALTO.

Lloyd-Hughes is represented by CAA. Lamb is represented by WME. Both Lloyd-Hughes and Lamb are managed by Lena Roklin. Madsen is represented by DBA-Fortitude and managed by Chris Prapha of Creative Partners Group.

London, March 24, 2013:
The best movies of last year were finally revealed at this eveningโ€™s Jameson Empire Awards, as the public rewarded the movies that won their hearts and minds in 2012. The readers of Empire โ€“ the world’s biggest movie magazine โ€“ voted in their hundreds of thousands, from all corners of the globe, to bestow major prizes on the best of the best at the Jameson Empire Awards. Dame Helen Mirren was bestowed with this yearโ€™s Empire Legend award, which was presented to her by Tom Hiddleston. Celebrated for her performances in everything from Gosford Park to The Queen, The Long Good Friday to The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, And Her Lover and this yearโ€™s Hitchcock, she follows last yearโ€™s inaugural Legend winner, Tim Burton.

Danny Boyle also won gold at the Awards, collecting the Empire Outstanding Contribution award. The award acknowledges Boyleโ€™s stellar career so far, with highlights cited on the night including his outstanding work on everything from Shallow Grave to Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours and this yearโ€™s Trance.

In the year that box office records were smashed to pieces by the likes of Skyfall, it is terrific to see the Empire readers honour those achievements, with the movie awards that actually reflect the films that people really care about.”
