Lionsgate has two horses in this race, Sicario is one of them.
Sicario
Stars: Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin
Director: Denis Villaneuve
Premise: From IMDb: “An idealistic FBI agent is enlisted by an elected government task force to aid in the escalating war against drugs at the border area between the U.S. and Mexico.”
Oscar Chances: Decent: The film was a hit when it was released, at least with critics, but its star has faded some since then. There’s a lot of competition at the end of the year and the film seems to be drifting further towards also-ran status than it is towards lock status.
