I was a bit surprised to get this one, but here it is. I’ll still probably see it in the theater as this kind of spectacle deserves that, but I will be sorely tempted to check it out beforehand.

Premise: From IMDb: “In 19th-century France, Jean Valjean, who for decades has been hunted by the ruthless policeman Javert after he breaks parole, agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s daughter, Cosette. The fateful decision changes their lives forever.”
Oscar Chances: Excellent: It’s one of the big contenders this year and if critics line up behind it, we could be looking at the first Best Picture win for a musical in a decade. Several other key competitors arise from the film, which will undoubtedly be one of the top nominees this year…if everything goes as expected.
