The WGA has made ineligible the screenplays for Inglourious Basterds, Up and District 9 among many others.

Titanic was nominated at the WGA, but didn’t translate that into an Oscar nomination, so it’s not the end of the world, I guess… but the WGA has some very strict and bizarre rules that have resulted in the disqualification of a number of films that will compete at the Oscars, so their list isn’t really that helpful in terms of Oscar nomination potential.

The only bad thing about avatar is its screenplay, it’s full of cliché plot and dialog.

For best original screenplay Basterds and UP is missing in that list

For Best Adapted Screenplay An Education and District 9 should be nominated

7 or 8 of the nominated films for best screenplay will be nominated for best picture.
