Having splintered from the African American Film Critics Association in 2010 over a controversy involving a bribe to manipulate vote totals, the Black Film Critics Circle has worked to distinguish itself from its counterpart. While the top winner was the same, most of the rest of the list are different and highlights an interesting parallel. While the AAFCA didn’t care enough for BlacKkKlansman to put it in its top ten, this group slotted it at number 2. Other notable differences exist, but few of them have a lot of bearing on the Oscar competition.
