Although it will have no bearing on the Oscar outcome, the American Society of Cinematographers have deemed a director who lensed his own movie without the help of an actual cinematographer lost to an actual cinematographer. Alfson Cuaron will probably still win the Oscar because those voters don’t care if he used a member to photograph his project.
