Precursor: 28th Critics Choice Nominations (2022)

Heavy on populism, the Critics Choice Association has put together a rather vanilla list of selections, overextending on Best Picture to eleven and selecting some questionable items. They shut out She Said, supported the category fraud of Michelle Williams in The Fabelmans and played a lot of races fairly safely. Everything Everywhere All at Once is over-awarded with 14 nominations while Best Picture nominees Avatar, Glass Onion, Top Gun, and Women Talking all tie non-nominee Black Panther: Wakanda Forever for a surprisingly low number of nominations.
