With the exchange of digital pixels, the Online Film & Television Association (OFTA) has made their selections for the best in film for 2018. In something of a surprise, The Favourite dominated the awards, taking home 9 non-promotional categories, including Best Picture and Best Director. A number of Oscar frontrunners were unable to impress this group with Glenn Close, Mahershala Ali, and Alfonso Cuaron going down to Olivia Colman, Richard E. Grant, and Yorgos Lanthimos respectively. It’s an eclectic list with some compelling runner-up choices, though their chances of mirroring the Oscars seem slim. It’s also interesting to note that all but two Best Picture nominees went home with an award. Hereditary and Green Book both went home with zero prizes. Hereditary came in runner-up in two categories (Actress and Debut Feature) and Green Book was runner-up in one (Supporting Actor).
