For some strange reason, they eliminated their screenwriting award. Still, Belfast came out well with two actors on the list. It’s noteworthy that to get nominated for the acting or directing categories, you have to be AARP-eligible, which is age 50. What’s noteworthy is that Jared Leto, of all people, just barely made the cut having turned 50 in December. Beyond that, you can’t read a lot into this list when so many eligible contenders are ineligible, though the Best Director slate could mostly transfer over the Oscars and the Best Picture slate are all potential nominees in a ten-nominee field.
