Vancouver film critics have a small slate of awards that recognize the best films of the year released in Canada while featuring a larger batch of nominations for Canadian-only films. With the smaller number of Canadian contenders, the top nominees are largely canadian films with The Twentieth Century topping all others with seven. Two more Canadian titles share the tie for second place with five nominations each: Anne at 13,000 ft. and The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open. None of those three titles have much of a shot, nor does the only other Canadian film with three or more nominations: White Lie. However, the third film with five nominations is certainly a major Oscar player: Marriage Story. Parasite and The Irishman also did well in the 3-nomination categories that makeup their wider release selections.
