The big question with AFI is how they determine what’s an American film. After all, one wouldn’t expect The Favourite on this list. That said, other than Eighth Grade and First Reformed, this list looks an awful lot like what we might have expected months ago with two major exceptions. First Man should have been a slam dunk for this group, but was ignored. Also missing: Widows and Vice (not likely screened in time).
