The American Film Institute has selected its ten films that they consider are the best of the year. The only stipulation is that they be American productions. Thus, foreign language films, and many British, Canadian, and Australian films are ineligible. I haven’t had time to look over the list to decide what isn’t there that could have been.
Best American Films
- Arrival
- Fences
- Hacksaw Ridge
- Hell or High Water
- La La Land
- Manchester by the Sea
- Moonlight
- Silence
- Sully
- Zootopia
