• Two-time Oscar winner Bill Varney passed away this week at the age of 77. Varney won back to back Oscars for Best Sound for Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Empire Strikes Back.
• 96-year-old press agent Walter Seltzer died this week. Seltzer’s best known achievement was launching the small film Marty into the Oscar hemisphere, where it took home the prize for Best Picture of 1955.
