With two seemingly inconsequential releases against the second weekend of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the race will likely be for second place. Speak No Evil has the edge since it’s horror season.

The Killer’s Game
Wesley Lovell: It looks like harmless fun but without the fun part.
Peter J. Patrick: Distasteful comedy about hit man who orders a kill on himself looks dreadful.
Thomas La Tourrette: It may be trying to be funny, but mostly it just feels overly violent and stupid.
Speak No Evil
Wesley Lovell: James McAvoy looks really good and while the concept isn’t completely fresh, it could be interesting enough.
Peter J. Patrick: Standard modern horror film offers nothing new.
Thomas La Tourrette: A couple bits of the trailer seem good, but not enough to entice me to see it.

The Limited Slate
Wesley Lovell: Only The Critic and Winner appeal to me.
Peter J. Patrick: The Critic and How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies look compelling; Meanwhile on Earth, My Old Ass, and Winner look like possibilities. Believer is the only one in this group that I wouldn’t waste my time on.
Thomas La Tourrette: A few of these look like they could be pleasant films to see, with The Critic and My Old Ass seeming to be the best of the bunch. Not sure that any are must sees, but they could liven up the screens for a couple hours.
