There is but only one new wide release this week, the latest attempt to revive the Exorcist franchise. The Exorcist: Believer will certainly be the top new wide release, but it also has a strong chance at being the top box office performer overall.

The Exorcist: Believer
Wesley Lovell: While it might be the best Exorcist film since the original, there are still questions about whether it can recapture that magic.
Peter J. Patrick: Doesn’t look too appealing, but I’m waiting for reviews to come out to decide.
Thomas La Tourrette: It boasts a decent trailer for a possession film, but even Ellen Burstyn and Ann Dowd cannot convince me to see this film.

The Limited Slate
Wesley Lovell: Apart from She Came to Me, there are a few with potential, but also some that don’t look good at all.
Peter J. Patrick: The courtroom dramas, The Burial and Miranda’s Victim look promising, and the futuristic Foe at least has a novel storyline. The rest do not impress me.
Thomas La Tourrette: The courtroom dramas of The Burial and Miranda’s Victim both look interesting and worth seeing. Pedro Almodovar’s short Strange Way of Life might prove interesting, but not sure what it is trying for. She Came to Me looks to be a fun and bizarre comedy with a game cast. A couple might be worthwhile, Foe, The Royal Hotel and even Monsters of California, though probably not worth seeing in the theaters.
