With Dune making an unimpressive debut, the next weekend of releases should have a lot of opportunities to top the chart. That said, only Last Night in Soho really seems like the kind of film that can do it.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I love inventive premises in horror films, but this doesn’t look terribly interesting.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): A decent looking horror movie for Halloween with a focus on kids.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Keri Russell is always worth watching, but she is given so little to do in the trailers of this horror film that I am not sure they are getting their money’s worth from her.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Edgar Wright’s aesthetics are tremendous whether his films are or not. Still worth checking out just for that.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): An adult horror film that takes us back to the swinging London of the 1960s.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It boasts a riveting trailer, but the end of it feels like a different film altogether. I’m intrigued, but the mixed reviews give me pause.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I don’t care for Japanese animation, so I’m not the target audience.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): The latest in an anime series I’m not familiar with looks OK.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I am normally interested in any new animated film, but this did not catch me.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): If I want to watch a bunch of rich people fail upward, I’m going to stay in reality and not a film.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like a standard sports film, albeit a rare one about rowing.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It looks like a typical sports movie, even if rowing is not a typical sport, and it just does not look that interesting.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It seems interesting, but would need to see its predecessor first.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Never saw Part I, have no interest in seeing Part II.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I did not see the original film, but this looks interesting but not absolutely compelling.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I don’t care for rotoscope animatino, so I’m sitting this one out as well.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Animated film looks more than a bit confusing.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The backgrounds look impressive in this animated film, which makes me wish they had worked more on the actual characters.
