Smile 2 will collapse as most horror films do leaving room for a battle between the third Venom film and the Catholic thriller Conclave. While I might lean towards Conclave having a chance, the first and second Venom films made the exact same box office result domestically. The first started with $80 million and the second $90 million. That suggests the third should still be potent enough to take the top of the box office.

WIDE RELEASES

CONCLAVE

VENOM: THE LAST DANCE

Conclave

Wesley Lovell: It looks intriguing in spite of the subject matter.

Peter J. Patrick: One of the year’s most eagerly anticipated films is a must-see for me.

Thomas La Tourrette: Of the upcoming releases, Conclave intrigues me most. And it looks to be a major player when it comes to getting Oscar nominations.

Venom: The Last Dance

Wesley Lovell: I missed the second part, so I’ll have to wait until I see it before being interested.

Peter J. Patrick: No interest whatsoever.

Thomas La Tourrette: I have yet to see the first two films, so will pass on this one too. Someday I would like to at least see the original.

LIMITED RELEASES

1 MILLION FOLLOWERS

LA COCINA

MAGPIE

MEMOIR OF A SNAIL

YOUR MONSTER

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: A few of these could be fun but some aren’t likely to be.

Peter J. Patrick: Only the animated Memoir of a Snail piques my interest.

Thomas La Tourrette: The reviews of Memoir of a Snail make this probably-Oscar-nominated film sound intriguing, even if the animation is a bit off-putting. The others might prove okay, but none shone in their trailers.
