It’s horror month and Smile 2 has little competition, so expect it to easily top the box office.

WIDE RELEASES

GOODRICH

SMILE 2

Goodrich

Wesley Lovell: Even with Michael Keaton aboard, this looks pretty tepid.

Peter J. Patrick: Seems like a very minor comedy.

Thomas La Tourrette: It has an okay trailer but it feels like a movie we have seen before.

Smile 2

Wesley Lovell: Perhaps if I’d seen the original, I might be into this sequel.

Peter J. Patrick: Another week, another cheap horror movie.

Thomas La Tourrette: It’s a suitably creepy trailer, but I have no desire to see it.

LIMITED RELEASES

ANORA

BOOKWORM

KENSUKE’S KINGDOM

THE LINE

PANDA PLAN

A REAL PAIN

STOCKHOLM BLOODBATH

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: Not a lot that interests me even if Anora is a prime Oscar contender and A Real Pain is a minor one.

Peter J. Patrick: Film festival hits Anora and A Real Pain are the ones to seek out here.

Thomas La Tourrette: Both A Real Pain and especially Anora have gotten lots of Oscar buzz, though it is hard to tell from their trailers what makes them so special. I will see them because of possible Oscar nominations, but not feeling thrilled about either one. A couple of the other releases look okay, but nothing special.
