Looking at the Weekend: Nov. 6-8, 2020

Without much new at the box office, a film like this could do well, but as we’ve seen in recent months, audiences just aren’t flocking back to cineplexes. That means this Diane Lane and Kevin Costner film, which would appeal more to older audiences, who are most at risk in the pandemic, isn’t likely to go very far.

	Wesley Lovell (WL): It doesn’t seem like a very interesting premise even with a solid cast. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Early talk of an Oscar nod for Lesley Manville seems to have evaporated but you never know. Thomas LaTourette (TL): There is a sense of menace to the trailer of a family trying to get their grandson from a family cult, but I don’t know that I care to see it.

	Wesley Lovell (WL): This oft-delayed film may not be worth seeing, but it has potential. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Postponed so many times, it almost feels like this is something I’ve seen when all I’ve seen is the trailer. Thomas LaTourette (TL): It might be a decent thriller of a man going to prison to help bring down a gang, but it looks no better than other films that did the same and probably better.

Patrick (PP): Strong cast should maintain interest in this up-from-the-bootstraps tale that shares its title with a Springsteen ballad. Thomas LaTourette (TL): A slow moving trailer neither interested me in the people nor did it really show much about the fighting at the core of characters motivation.
