It may well be one of the biggest weekends of the year with Gladiator II trying desperately to relive the glory of its 2000 predecessor while Wicked taps into a massive audience in love with the musical. In the end, Wicked is more likely to come out on top though it might be closer than expected.

Ernest Cole: Lost and Found (Limited)
Joy (Limited)
Never Look Away (Limited)

Say a Little Prayer (Limited)

WIDE RELEASES

GLADIATOR II

WICKED

Gladiator II

Wesley Lovell: I wasn’t that enamored with the original film and despite the cast (Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, and Denzel Washington), it doesn’t look that appealing.

Peter J. Patrick: Not expecting much but will give it a shot.

Thomas La Tourrette: Reviews are decidedly mixed, but I am interested in seeing this sequel.

Wicked

Wesley Lovell: I love the book and the musical so I’m on board with the film adaptation of the musical.

Peter J. Patrick: It’s only act one of the musical but that’s better than nothing I suppose.

Thomas La Tourrette: The previews do make this look magical. I am looking forward to seeing it.

LIMITED RELEASES

ARMOR

FLOW

SPELLBOUND

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: Flow is a sure watch for me while Spellbound will probably be “yes” but possibly “no.”

Peter J. Patrick: Flow looks interesting but Spellbound only looks so-so.ย  Forget the latest nonsense from Sylvester Stallone.

Thomas La Tourrette: Flow looks like an animated film not to be missed. Spellbound looks more average.
