The new wide releases are a miserable lot. Here isn’t getting good reviews, Liam Neeson hasn’t had an actioner hit in quite some time, and Hitpig is bargain basement animation. In the end, Hitpig probably has the best shot at the top but that’s no guarantee.

Absolution
Wesley Lovell: Liam Neeson’s action films hold no interest for me.
Peter J. Patrick: Looks like another paycheck job for Liam Neeson.
Thomas La Tourrette: It may be trying for a bit more depth, but still looks like a typical Liam Neeson movie.
Blitz
Wesley Lovell: So much talent involved it should be quite good.
Peter J. Patrick: Early reviews are through the roof.
Thomas La Tourrette: It may prove old fashioned, but it looks to be an interesting war time movie.
Here
Wesley Lovell: It had potential but early reviews aren’t good.
Peter J. Patrick: Possible major Oscar contender.
Thomas La Tourrette: It sounds like an interesting concept, but boy the reviews are not kind, so perhaps not worth seeing.
Hitpig
Wesley Lovell: It looks like second-rate DreamWorks.
Peter J. Patrick: Not in the theatre, but maybe when it hits streaming.
Thomas La Tourrette: It looks incredibly stupid.

The Limited Slate
Wesley Lovell: The likely last Clint Eastwood film might be interesting as might Cellar Door but the rest don’t seem that interesting.
Peter J. Patrick: Juror No. 2 for sure, with Lost on a Mountain in Maine a possibility.
Thomas La Tourrette: I am most interested in Juror #2, though that is by reputation of the director rather than the sluggish trailer. The only other films that seem possibilities are Levels and The Gutter, though withholding judgment on both until more reviews are out.
