Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has the potential to take a second week at the top but of this week’s new releases, it’s Ryan Reynolds’ IF that has the best chance of taking it down.
OTHER RELEASES
We are only looking at films that have had trailers released on Rotten Tomatoes’ trailer YouTube Channels. Below are some other films that are releasing this weekend that we haven’t considered.

Back to Black
Wesley Lovell: Sam Taylor-Johnson is a solid filmmaker and her subject is an interesting one but the trailers have yet to excite me.
Thomas La Tourrette: It is a decent trailer, but the reviews are not kind so it may not be worth seeing after all.
IF
Wesley Lovell: Ryan Reynolds could do just about anything and I’d probably watch it. This looks on the weaker side of his output but could be fun.
Thomas La Tourrette: IF looks cute but I am not certain that it will be any more than that.
The Strangers: Chapter 1
Wesley Lovell: I never saw the original film so this first part of a reboot trilogy seems ill-conceived though with some potential.
Thomas La Tourrette: It does not look like a good horror film.

The Limited Slate
Wesley Lovell: A couple of interesting possibilities and an unthinkable waste of time from an Oscar winner.
Thomas La Tourrette: Babes does not look that funny and You Can’t Run Forever looks unpleasant. Not a good week for the limited releases.
