With five new wide releases trying to find out who can lose to the second week of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it should be interesting to see which of the demographics most turn out. Considering the mediocre trailers for most of the choices, it’s possible that Book Club: The Next Chapter is the film to beat for top new wide release.

OTHER RELEASES

We are only looking at films that have had trailers released on Rotten Tomatoes’ trailer YouTube Channels. Below are some other films that are releasing this weekend that we haven’t considered.

It Ainโ€™t Over (Limited)

WIDE RELEASES

BOOK CLUB: THE NEXT CHAPTER

FOOL’S PARADISE

HYPNOTIC

KNIGHTS OF THE ZODIAC

ROAD RALLY RACERS

Book Club: The Next Chapter

Wesley Lovell: I didn’t see the original, but I love the stars, so I’m still interested, but not without seeing the original.

Peter J. Patrick: The original was pretty cheesy. I don’t expect anything different from the sequel.

Thomas La Tourrette: It’s great to see older actresses working, but it would be nice if they could be in something more substantial.

Fool’s Paradise

Wesley Lovell: I like the stars, but the premise is a little weak and the trailer wasn’t as funny as it should have been.

Peter J. Patrick: Looks like a bunch of nonsense.

Thomas La Tourrette: It had rather worn out its welcome by the end of the trailer. Unless the reviews are amazing, I’ll probably pass.

Hypnotic

Wesley Lovell: While I like Ben Affleck, this looks like a step below his best work.

Peter J. Patrick: I like mysteries but the trailer for this one doesn’t grab me the way it should.

Thomas La Tourrette: It feels too much like an X-Files episode that dealt with a man who could make people see what was not there.

Knights of the Zodiac

Wesley Lovell: It looks like uninspired cheese.

Peter J. Patrick: I have absolutely no interest in this CGI-laden drivel.

Thomas La Tourrette: The trailer did not do enough to interest me with its labyrinthine storyline.

Road Rally Racers

Wesley Lovell: The animation is satisfactory, but the trailer makes the film look irredeemably bad.

Peter J. Patrick: Looks like something that bad parents would use to babysit their toddlers.

Thomas La Tourrette: This looks like an animated film for only little kids and will be painful for anyone else.

LIMITED RELEASES

BLACKBERRY

L’IMMENSITร€

MONICA

THE STARLING GIRL

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: Each of this weeks releases have potential, but none of them speak to me as a film lover.

Peter J. Patrick: None of these evoke much interest, but BlackBerry made with the same skill as The Social Network would have been something to see.

Thomas La Tourrette: The critics love all four of these movies, but they all had lackluster trailers. I will probably see most of them, but may wait until they are streaming rather than spending the money on seeing them in theaters.
