Looking at the Weekend: Mar. 25-27, 2022

With The Batman having dominated the last 3 weekends, it’s time for a new champion and unlike this past weekend, there is only one major release and it is very likely to topple the dark knight. The Lost City features Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, and Daniel Radcliffe. With plenty of advertising to support the film, it is sure to play well to wide audiences.

Patrick (PP): This showcase for Michelle Yeoh combining her grand dame and martial arts personas could be a career highpoint. Thomas LaTourette (TL): I have no idea exactly what the movie will be, but it looks fascinating, with a well-used Michelle Yeoh.

	Wesley Lovell (WL): See it for Naomi Watts’ performance if nothing else. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Overly familiar rescue in the wild melodrama might be effective for those unfamiliar with the genre. Thomas LaTourette (TL): There are many similar themed movies of people trying to escape nature’s fury, and while the trailer started out interesting I was not as excited by the end.

Patrick (PP): 2021 UK release went nowhere – even Olivia Colman and Glenda Jackson in cameos couldn’t save it. Thomas LaTourette (TL): Beautiful gowns on British stars may not a movie make, though critics seem to enjoy it. The trailer was just a little slow paced for me.
