There’s only one film that has the potential to tear the horror crown away from A Quiet Place: Part II, and it’s one of the most successful modern horror franchises…unfortunately.

Our Highest Rated Films: Chasing Wonders
Our Best Awards Ratings: No consensus.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I’ve never had an interest in these series and reject them almost entiretly. Basing themselves on known scam artists’ scam cases is utterly deceptive.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): The real horror of this thing is that Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are in this instead of something that befits their talents.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The presence of Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson probably makes this seedy looking franchise have better acting than one might otherwise expect, but I still have no interest in seeing it.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The original film was a colossal bore, one of the worst animated films I saw in its time, so I definitely won’t subject myself to its successor.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Animated film about a girl and her horse looks overly cute.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The animation looks badly done so I doubt this will be a nominee, but it depends on what else gets released this year. But then I did not think that the Croods sequel would be an Oscar nominee.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It’s not a bad premise, but the trailer doesn’t quite sell the film.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Seems to be a moderately interesting coming-of-age story.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The father/son melodrama looks overblown, but there might be a reasonable movie underneath that, though the trailer does little to show it.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The trailer never gets to a point where it piqued my interest even with a seemingly mysterious element to it.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like an overly drawn-out bit of mythological nonsense.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Between some reviews that liked the film and the fact that I enjoyed the director’s previous film, Transit, there seems a possibility that this will be good. Unfortunately, the trailer does little to excite interest in the movie.
