After the mega launch of Barbie and Oppenheimer last weekend, Disney hopes to have its own mega opening with the latest adaptation of one of its theme park rides. Haunted Mansion might struggle against Barbie, but should do well enough to top Talk to Me as the weekend’s top new release.

Haunted Mansion
Wesley Lovell: The cast makes this look a lot more engaging than it probably is.
Peter J. Patrick: While I generally like horror comedies this one seems to be a bit too silly for my taste.
Thomas La Tourrette: Unless the reviews prove ecstatic, I see no reason to see this Disney film about one of its rides.
Talk to Me
Wesley Lovell: It’s an interesting concept I haven’t seen in horror lately, so could be worth watching.
Peter J. Patrick: Looks like another bad horror film.
Thomas La Tourrette: Horror films are not my favorite and nothing about the trailer made me want to see this one.

The Limited Slate
Wesley Lovell: The Beasts is only interesting to me because of its buzz, not because of its trailer. The others I’m not interested in.
Peter J. Patrick: This week’s limited releases all look to be more interesting than the wide releases.
Thomas La Tourrette: The critics like all of these, but I am not sure what they see in The Beasts or Sympathy for the Devil as neither trailer spoke to me.The Unknown Country might be a possibility, but it didn’t leap off the screen at me.
