With the star power of Denzel Washington alone, this should do quite well at a depressed box office. Rami Malek and Jared Leto aren’t likely to bring in many, if any, viewers, so it will be all Washington that sells this film and with neither The Marksman nor Wonder Woman 1984 putting up huge weekend numbers anymore, the top spot belongs to the thriller.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): This looks like a relatively bland thriller that just happens to have three Oscar winners in the cast.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Written nearly 30 years ago by director Hancock, with three Oscar winners starring, this thriller has possibilities.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It looks like it could be a decent thriller, though nothing new or exceptional. Perhaps a little too typical, but the cast might elevate it.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Looks too generic to be genuinely interesting.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Not familiar with actor-director Nick Sasso’s work but this looks a little different than the usual fare.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Another fighting movie with a has-been having a shot at redemption. The Thailand locations make it marginally more interesting, but it still did not capture my attention.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The trailer isn’t great and there’s too much of a Shining meets Rosemary’s Baby vibe, ut it could still be interesting.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): U.S.-Iran co-production appears to be a better horror film than most productions these days.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It boasts a reasonably effective trailer, but horror films are just not my favorite.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Watching two straight actors playing gay is growing a bit tedious.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Strong performances are the highlights of this one with Stanley Tucci a possible Oscar nominee.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The trailer is warm and heartfelt, but it makes me wonder if there is more plot than just the Alzheimer’s breaking apart a longtime couple. Stanley Tucci has some Oscar buzz about his performance, but not perhaps enough to garner a nomination.
