While he’s not a huge box office star, Gerard Butler sometimes does just enough to get audiences to the theater. While Plane faces off against Christian horror film The Devil Conspiracy, comedy remake House Party, and the expansion of Tom Hanks’ A Man Called Otto, it has the best chances of coming out on top.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It looks like every other film about possession except that it’s different enough to be even less interesting.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Nutty horror movie looks like a Grade Z Exorcist.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It boasts striking imagery but it was feeling pretty usual by the end.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): This looks like a prototypical frat-like comedy and that’s not terribly appealing.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Loud, obnoxious comedy may have its moments, but they appear to be far between.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It looks like a fairly unfunny remake of a film that was not that good to start with.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): A commonplace action thriller with actors I like well enough, but don’t want to see in a film like this.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Derivative action film has little to offer.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It might prove a decent thriller but it looks pretty predictable.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): We’ve seen kithcen dramas and new-life dramas like this many times before, so nothing seems terribly unique or interesting with this one.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Restaurant comedy looks OK at best.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks to be an innocuous but fun and uplifting tale about how cooking can change the life of people.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): A forgettable trailer for a horror film that promises little new
Peter J. Patrick (PP): This week’s second religious themed horror film looks as unappealing as the first one.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Setting this horror movie in the orthodox Jewish community sets it apart from most horror films, though I am not sure if it will be any better than the other one being released this week.

Wesley Lovell (WL): I’m intrigued by the premise, but the trailer is so dreadfully dull.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Dour German/Austrian film looks like a chore to sit through.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The trailer is a little perplexing but it might prove an interesting thriller of one man against the nazis.

Wesley Lovell (WL): The word on this one is great, but the trailer’s not that appealing.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): France’s entry for Best International Film looks intriguing.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This French courtroom drama has very good reviews but the trailer does not do a good job at selling it.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): An interesting concept, but can it work? The trailer doesn’t make that seem possible.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Gimmicky film from seven directors doesn’t seem to come together in trailer.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Gillian Jacobs is a good actress but the trailer does not really show what the movie is about and having eight directors sounds like a conceptual idea that will produce a bad film.
