The first set of new wide releases in what seems like forever, but there isn’t much to see here as they aren’t titles that are likely to ignite interest in the box office, though Jackass Forever is sure to pull plenty of people who don’t care about the pandemic to theater, so it might come out on top.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Never had an interest in seeing a bunch of young punks do stupid shit for fun and profit. Don’t feel like seeing a bunch of middle aged jerks trying to relive their glory years for fun and profit.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Spare me – please!
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks as stupid as it is trying to be. Probably only for people who are already fans.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I love disaster films, but even this Roland Emmerich humdinger looks forced.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Decent premise but nothing in the trailer makes it look like anything special.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This comes across as more silly than anything else. The trailer gives little idea of what horrors lurk or why we should even care.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It could be interesting, but it’s more likely to be a bit dull.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like a so-so detective story.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Itโ€™s not a bad cast but the trailer does little to excite interest in the film or characters.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): An interesting idea disserviced by a mediocre trailer.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Post-apocalyptic thriller looks thrilling enough, but does it offer anything new?
Thomas LaTourette (TL): For the second week in a row, Alicia Silverstone has a film out. While this has a better premise, I am not sure how good it will be.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Somewherein this concept is a potentially entertaining film, the trailer doesn’t quite bring that out.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Another no-name cast in another tepid horror movie.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The trailer left me cold and it just doesnโ€™t look terribly interesting.

  • International Feature (WL,PP,TL)

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It’s a well regarded film, which makes it of interest, but it still feels a bit hollow.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Norway’s submission for Best International Feature looks like it could be one of the more interesting romantic comedies around.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The fact that the critics love it and that itโ€™s been shortlisted for the Oscars would make it seem like a sure fire hit, but the trailer does not make one care much for the lead nor really sell the movie at all.
