The Invisible Man is the most likely winner of this final weekend of February with Emma expanding, but not doing much otherwise. The second weekends of Sonic the Hedgehog and Call of the Wild won’t likely amount to much.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It’s an interesting twist on the original, which could be worth checking out.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): H.G. Wells must be spinning in his grave. This travesty has nothing to do with his work.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I am just not sure that this will rise above the misogyny of the trailer.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Generic race drama that feels overly familiar.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like a decent little film, but why did it take two years from its Sundance showing to make it into theatres?
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It looks earnest but not the best made.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It might be zany enough to be fun.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Begs the question, will Daniel Radcliffe ever make another decent film?
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I admire Daniel Radcliffe for taking chances, but this movie looks like a misfire, only good for people with short attention spans who like a lot of violence.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): A dull-looking sequel to one of my least favorite Coen Brothers film and they aren’t even directing.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Pointless trash.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): John Turturro tries too hard to be arty but it looks like a miss of a movie.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): An odd-looking gay seriocomedy that doesn’t look as interesting as it thinks it looks.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Quirky comedy has possibilities.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I do not think that I find a gay man deciding to try women because he is finding it difficult to find the right guy a believable premise, though reviews seem to like the film, or at least the voice of the director.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Benh Zeitlin’s Beasts of the Southern Wild was over-praised. This years-later follow up looks about as uninspiring as his previous effort. The dude needs to let go of the dark child fantasies.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Not my cup of tea but may be of interest to those looking for another take on Peter Pan.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The director has a definite look, but it sounds like it does not really succeed.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It’s an odd premise that might be interesting.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): It may be funny in Romania, but it doesn’t tickle my funnybone at all.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks to be entertaining if not terribly deep.
