With three wide releases this week, competition for the top spot should be fierce. The biopic Bob Marley One Love likely hoped it would be the sole opener this week and that would have been good for its top-spot chances. Unfortunately, Sony’s Madame Web will likely pull in more crowds due to its superhero nature. That said, superhero films have been fading lately, so we’ll have to see how this one performs since it’s in the Spider-Man universe, which seems to still be doing well.

OTHER RELEASES

We are only looking at films that have had trailers released on Rotten Tomatoes’ trailer YouTube Channels. Below are some other films that are releasing this weekend that we haven’t considered.

The Chosen: Season 4 Episodes 4-6 (Wide)
2024 Oscar Shorts (Limited)
Adam the First (Limited)
Altered Reality (Limited)
God & Country: The Rise Of Christian Nationalism (Limited)
Onlookers (Limited)
What About Love (Limited)

WIDE RELEASES

BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE

MADAME WEB

Bob Marley: One Love

Wesley Lovell: The Bob Marley biopic looks ok, but Madame Web is the only title I’m compelled to see.

Peter J. Patrick: Long awaited Marley biography should at least be very entertaining.

Thomas La Tourrette: I have seen the trailer too many times for it to interest me anymore. I gather it will be a serviceable biopic, but probably nothing more.

Madame Web

Peter J. Patrick: Welcome to the Spider-Verse, Madame Web.

Thomas La Tourrette: This does not feel like one of Marvel’s better films.

LIMITED RELEASES

BLEEDING LOVE

IO CAPITANO

LAND OF BAD

LIGHTS OUT

MONOLITH

WINNIE-THE-POOH: BLOOD AND HONEY 2

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: Is it strange that the Winnie-the-Pooh horror film is the one that looks best on this list?

Peter J. Patrick: Oscar nominee Io Capitano for sure, Bleeding Love and Land of Bad maybe, forget the rest.

Thomas La Tourrette: I am curious to see the Oscar nominated Io Capitano, though the trailer does not do a good job of selling the film about immigrants. The only other one that looks marginally interesting is the father daughter road trip Bleeding Love.
